Frequently asked questions
Can I buy in the DR without traveling?
Yes. You can see the properties by video call and sign remotely with a notarized power of attorney. The lawyer tells you what kind of power you need and whether it must be apostilled, depending on the country where you live.
How do I make payments from the United States?
Usually by international wire transfer to the account indicated by the developer or the seller. Before each payment I confirm the details in writing.
Can I get financing if I live abroad?
Yes. Several Dominican banks lend to Dominicans living abroad. For example, at its March 2026 real estate fair in New York, Banreservas offered to finance up to 90% of the value, with terms of up to 20 years and rates from 9.50% fixed for six months (Diario Libre, in Spanish).
Conditions vary by bank and over time, so we compare options before you reserve.
When does it make sense to travel?
Once you have 2 or 3 shortlisted options, or for the handover. That way you make the most of the trip instead of using it to rule things out.
